Each NGO should own a set of governance documents, including constitution, governance manual, conflict of interest policy, etc., which prescribes the organization’s governance practices. From time to time, NGOs should review and update these documents to align existing practices, to suit their operational needs and to comply with current regulations, e.g. regarding AGM arrangement and tax-exempt charitable status.

In collaboration with PILnet, the Council has invited speakers from NGOs and a law firm to share their experience and views on keeping governance documents up-to-date. This session is also an introduction to the upcoming Governance Connect Program where participating NGOs will be paired with pro bono legal advisors to support their review or compilation of related documents, namely the Articles of Association or governance manual.
