Facebook’s mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. To fulfill this mission, every year Facebook organizes “Global Causes Day” to mobilize its employees around meaningful causes and help non-profit organizations (NPOs) use Facebook and its family of apps to do more good for their communities. In Hong Kong, the company hosts “Facebook Good Causes Day” to support local NPOs by educating them on how to use Facebook to advocate social good causes and connect more closely with their communities.

This year marks the fifth anniversary of Good Causes Day themed around mental health. It also marks the successful completion of #Hearforyou Campaign which was launched by Facebook six months ago. Our NPO partners include Agent of Change, Caritas – Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, St. James’ Settlement, The Samaritans Hong Kong and HKU Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine Department of Psychiatry. The campaign aims to support local NPOs that are advocating society to address mental health issues. Through a one-stop online resources hub to connect people in need by providing easy access to health and wellness resources, online assessment, and immediate support on messenger bots, the campaign aims at reaching out to those in need and raising public awareness on mental health issues. The program matched our NPO partners with teams of Facebook Buddies, who provided advertising sponsorship and marketing expertise support.

Facebook Good Causes Day 2020 will be organized virtually comprising two parts – Facebook Good Causes and NPO Consultation Session. We cordially invite you all to join us for this meaningful event!
