JPMorganChase’s PathBuilders Program
helps 400 students from vocational and community colleges for the transition from school to the workforce

Hong Kong, August 6, 2024 – JPMorganChase, which is celebrating 100 years in Hong Kong, today announced a USD 1 million donation for its newly launched PathBuilders Program. The initiative, in partnership with the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS), will support over 400 undergraduate students in vocational and community colleges as they transition from school to the workforce.

The funding will be shared among three non-profit organizations based in Hong Kong – A Plastic Ocean Foundation, WISE, and Big Education Platform – all of which are committed to improving employment outcomes for the youth. As part of the program, JPMorganChase, will also offer 14 students a two-week workplace experience opportunity at its offices.

Morgan and Senior Sponsor of the program. “Educators, employers and non-profit partners all play a critical role in coming together to create opportunities for our workforce of the future and we are delighted to be involved.”

Through collaborating with different stakeholders, we co-create innovative solutions to equip young people with the most relevant skills needed for their future career, also enabling them to contribute to our community,” said Chua Hoi Wai, Chief Executive of the HKCSS. “With JPMorganChase’s funding, we are able to support more organizations with interesting, impactful and scalable approaches to career readiness and work experiences for better career pathways.”

JPMorganChase’s funding will support the projects of the following organizations, which will engage 30 corporate partners in six growing industries, including sustainability, financial services, healthcare, customer service, logistics, arts and culture.

  • A Plastic Ocean Foundations Green Collar Incubation Scheme to equip students studying STEM or sustainability related majors with theoretical knowledge and practical skills for entering the recycling industry.
  • WISEs School to Work Youth Inclusion Project – to provide customized work-readiness training and professional exposure for young people with special education needs (SEN) in diverse industries, including financial services, hospitality, customer services and retail.
  • Big Education Platforms Career LaunchPad Program – in partnership with Solomon Learning Group, to equip students with the essential life skills and experiences required for job readiness through comprehensive foundational skill training, realistic job simulations, and structured pre-internship placements.
