Local NGOs Adopt New Service Model to Address Increasing Social Needs Derived From COVID-19 and Enhance Employability for Disadvantaged Communities Beneficiaries experiencing distress in terms of Mental Health, Unemployment and Salary Cuts most affected HSBC Hong Kong Community Partnership Programme 2020 Announces 70 NGO Funding Projects with Focus on “Well-being” and “Future Skills” and support for NGOs to launch new service model 14 July, 2020 – The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) today announced the latest survey findings of “The current situation of non-subvented non-governmental organisations (NGOs) under the COVID-19 epidemic”, which reveal the most pressing needs of the community and the greatest challenges faced by local NGOs. With a rapid and massive decrease in income in the past 6 months, NGOs will be forced to scale down, suspend or cancel their service programmes if the pandemic continues. Over 70% estimate that the number of beneficiaries they serve would be reduced by 20% to 80%, while over 60% of NGOs surveyed have transformed their service model  to address increasing social needs. For Immediate Release July 6, 2020 Citi-HKCSS Community Intern Program in its 10th Year Cross-Sector Endeavour Continues to Cultivate Corporate Social Responsibility Hong Kong – The Citi-HKCSS Community Intern Program (CIP) is celebrating its 10th year of providing internship opportunities for local university business students at local non-profit organizations (NGOs). Since its launch in 2010, nearly 700 interns have been nurtured through the program. Co-organized by Citi and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS), Citi-HKCSS Community Intern Program is a first-of-its-kind cross-sector collaboration between academia, business and the NGO sector. Sponsored by Citi, the program aims to foster an exchange of knowledge, ideas and expertise between Hong Kong’s emerging business leaders and local non-profit organizations, through an array of activities ranging from marketing, event management and fundraising to day-to-day operations for NGOs. Most importantly, the program enhances the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the participating business university students in Hong Kong. HSBC HK COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMME 2020 70 Projects To Benefit 630,000 People Doubles Donation To HKD36 Million The HSBC Hong Kong Community Partnership Programme 2020 (“CPP”) has made the final selection of 70 projects designed to help people navigate the immediate fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic and prepare for the recovery.  Peter WONG, Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, said, “COVID-19 has brought hardship to Hong Kong, but it has also brought out our community spirit.  This year, local organisations submitted over 200 projects for consideration, highlighting how deep the instinct to help each other runs in Hong Kong. HSBC has doubled its CPP donation to HKD36 million to accommodate the extra need, and our employee volunteering team will provide backup on the ground, as it does every year.” The projects encompass a broad range of assistance, from giving young people the skills to act as ambassadors for their communities, to using digital technology to improve mental health among the elderly, to providing employment support to workers from vulnerable industries, and giving academic support to school children. 法庭判決應充分考慮社工緩和衝突的角色

【新聞稿2020年6月17日】註冊社工劉家棟被控於去年7月27日的元朗衝突中阻礙警方推進,今日被裁定一項阻差辦公罪名成立,被判即時監禁一年,而且被拒申請保釋等候上訴。 香港社會服務聯會(社聯)非常關注是次案件,認為裁決及判刑沒有考慮社工緩和衝突的角色,而被拒保釋也令人難以接受。 事實上,過去一年的社會運動中,警民衝突極其嚴重,不少前線社工都在現場擔當調停角色,進行大量游說和緩衝工作,以免發生流血警民衝突,唯當局卻一直忽視社工進行「人道支援」的角色。 社聯強調,警方及特區政府必須尊重及保障社工在衝突現場能履行職責,讓有需要的人士能夠得到專業和適切的支援。 – 完 –  傳媒聯絡: 社聯企業傳訊部 Tel: 2864 2982 ...
