Introduction

Hong Kong Dialogue is an annual initiative of Youth Co:Lab co-led by United Nations Development Programme and Citi Foundation. The Hong Kong Council of Social Service is the host of the Hong Kong Dialogue this year, where a 2-day conference will be held on the theme of Making Progress in Fostering Equalities in February, 2020, with a view to examining the needs of marginalized and disadvantaged children and youth and identifying solutions to enhance inclusion and ensure equal opportunities and outcomes for them, with a particular focus on three marginalized groups including children and youth with special education needs, ethnic minority youth, and youth with aspirations deviant from the mainstream.

Objectives

1.    Recognize young people as active agents for social change, economic development and technological innovation;

2.  Engage young people as experts of matters affecting their lives to share their experiences of marginalization; and

3.    Create a platform for true dialogues between youth and non-youth stakeholders to generate solutions to foster youth equalities.

To what extent is actualization a dream pursuing journey or a process of dream shattering? Are youths with aspirations dreamers or losers?

 

Is it out of reach for children and youth with SEN to fly high? To what extent do professional services highlight their innate shortcomings or empower them to construct equality?

 

Do EM youths perceive themselves as Hongkongers or transients? Are there any differences among EM youths who are local born / newly arrived / from different ethnicities / with different educational attainments?
