The social welfare sector is committed to the promotion of service and policy development through research and advocacy. In the past years, the Council has organized conferences and workshops in the theme of research or advocacy to introduce evidence-based practice and different advocacy strategies. Through sharing local wisdoms and overseas’ experience, we hope to promote exchange and learning among NGO practitioners. Unfortunately, the Conference & Workshop were cancelled last year due to the pandemic.

The Council initiates the 1st Annual Conference on Policy Research and Advocacy this year. The theme of this conference is “Rooted in Fact: the Power of Research and Advocacy in the Social Welfare Sector” and we are glad to have Mr Lam Chiu-ying, the Chairman of Hong Kong Countryside Foundation as our Keynote Speaker. With the local practitioners’ sharings, participants can explore the possibility of research and advocacy in the current social environment. The conference allows participants to learn the strategies of research and advocacy, and ultimately promote policy and service development.
