As people’s quality of life is enhanced, employees’ intermittent entries and exits from the labor market due to changing needs of the life course has become a norm.  Yet, the changing labor market conditions implies that employees would need to adapt to new environments every time they re-enter the labor market.  Formal education is no longer sufficient to meet the needs of lifelong career development. Acquiring new knowledge and skills through continuous education may be needed, other on-the-job and off-the-job learning modes are becoming increasingly important for employees to equip themselves for career development.

The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) is going to organize “Conference on Employment Training and Career Development: Reflecting on overseas experiences for local practices”, inviting speakers from Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Germany to introduce their continuing education and learning system in their countries/regions. We would like to invite all stakeholders interested in providing employment services or in need of hiring employees to join the conference and exchange experiences and collectively explore new possibilities on training and career development.
