The Northern Metropolis is being developed at full speed and is transforming the local community. Its planning vision and urban-rural integration initiatives have sparked extensive discussions across various sectors. Front-line practitioners of social service agencies have first-hand observations of this development plan and its impact. On top of the master plan of Northern Metropolis, we may understand its development progress and the situation of local residents by exploring the ground-level experience. As a result, our Council will organize a series of seminars to facilitate discussions on NM development.
Our Council cordially invites colleagues from member agencies to join the exchange seminar: “Northern Metropolis Development: Practice-Led Perspectives on Community Needs”. Planners and front-line practitioners serving in the area will share their observations on key issues, aiming to foster dialogue on local needs and help realize the vision of an integrated urban-rural community in the Northern Metropolis. Topics and representatives are as follows:

- Caritas Hong Kong｜Aging in place for the rural elderly
- Caritas Hong Kong｜Disaster challenges and emergency response in rural living environments
- Hong Kong Lutheran Social Service｜Rural-urban integration, identity construction, and cultural preservation
- ARUP｜Urban-rural integration, natural resilience, community connection, economic opportunities: How planning can achieve the visions of Northern Metropolis
- International Social Service (Hong Kong Branch)｜Features and needs of cross-border families in the new era
- ELCHK North District Integrated Youth Service Centre｜The needs of grassroots and children & youth in the Northern Metropolis from support services of new public housing households
