In recent years, young suicides have been on the rise and the community is deeply concerned. The Hong Kong Council of Social Service is organizing a conference on Youth Suicide Prevention: The Perspective of Critical Suicidology. Dr Rob Cover, Associate Professor and Deputy Head of the School of Social Science of The University of Western Australia, will do two presentations to give 1) a background and an overview on the formation of critical suicidology, and 2) an overview of social ecology approaches to resilience and their value to a critical suicidology and suicide prevention.

Date: 3 July, 2019 (Wednesday)
Time: 9:30 am – 6:00 pm
Venue: The Auditorium, 1/F Duke of Windsor Social Service Building.

Objectives:
1.To examine the local phenomenon of youth suicide with reference to the perspective of critical suicidology; and
2.To explore intervention strategies on youth suicide prevention in relation to connectedness, identities, and meaning of life.

Targets: Practitioners, academics, funders and policy makers

Language: Cantonese and English (Simultaneous Interpretation to English will be provided for presentations conducted in Chinese)
