I take much pleasure in inviting you to attend the captioned event which will be held on January 13, 2023 (Friday), 3:30 pm at Lecture Hall 4/F, Duke of Windsor Social Service Building, 15 Hennessy Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong. A delegation funded by the Community Chest attended the CIFA Regional Symposium & MSF Asian Family Conference 2022 on November 8-10, 2022. The theme of the conference was “Empowering Asian Families: Embracing Challenges & Building a Better Future”. The conference aims to further the policy-research-practice nexus on Asian Families by providing a platform for policymakers, researchers, and practitioners from Asia to come together to dialogue and exchange knowledge on strengthening Asian families. During the pandemic, many families have experienced increased pressures and erosions to social supports, with implications for their well-being and mental health, different interventions thus arise to help the families in the Asia. In the report back session, the delegates would share the insights for better policy-making, programme development and implementation to strengthen family relationships in Asia and the inspiration from Family Well-Being Project. It is not rare for front-line workers to deal with clients with drug-abusing behaviors or involving in drug-trafficking activities. Service units may even be asked by the enforcement units to assist with investigation. In Dangerous Drugs Ordinance (Cap.134), it includes provisions relating to drug-related crime, while in the meantime, it also concerns the legal protection of the rights of drug-abusing clients. For the front-line, it is essential to grasp the legal knowledge relating to drug abuse, its legal implication for offenders, as well as the rights and obligations of workers under the provision of law, so as to provide correct information to the clients and protect their rights in a timely manner. The council and Community Drug Advisory Council co-organize a sharing session with sharing from experienced lawyers and social worker, aiming to equip social service practitioners with knowledge of Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, sentencing and rehabilitation.
