Care Food Cooking Competition 2025

The Hong Kong Council of Social Service is organising the 7th Care Food Cooking Competition. The competition aims to demonstrate the ways to modify the favourite foods into Care Food for individuals with dysphagia (swallowing challenges), enabling them to enjoy their favourite dishes at home. This year, the competition is open to foreign domestic helpers, the participation and support from their employers are most welcome as well. Information Target: Foreign domestic helpers   Content: Under the theme “The Flavour of Memory”, contestants are required to submit a recipe and modify a dish favored by individuals with swallowing difficulties into a Care Food recipe after completing the training. The cooking methods are not restricted, and share the story behind it. New Caring Company Revamp Trilogy – Capacity Building Sessions

The Caring Company Scheme (the "Scheme") has completed the first phase of revamping process. The new participation standards encompass more sustainable development elements, including societal sustainability, economic sustainability, environmental sustainability, and partnership. It aims to align with market trends and address societal demands for sustainability. Additionally, it seeks to localize international sustainable development standards with the goal of continuing to lead stakeholders further along the path of sustainability.  To assist companies/organisations in better understanding the details of the application form and filling guidelines, three capacity-building workshops will be held in June, providing detailed explanations on the form content regarding social, economic and environmental sustainability will be held in June. Sharing session – Study Visit on Employment Training and Career Development for the grassroots and People with Disabilities in Singapore

In Hong Kong, employment support has long been a core service of social service organizations. Many grassroots individuals and persons with disabilities have found meaningful employment after receiving training and job referrals from these organizations. Meanwhile, some individuals face greater employment barriers and require long-term and in-depth support. In light of changes in technology, the economy, and government policies, the entire sector needs to explore how support services can keep pace with the times. In early March this year, the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) formed a delegation to visit Singapore, where they exchanged service experiences with local government departments, social service organizations, social enterprises, and academics. Three delegation members explored how the governance principles   influence welfare, employment, and job retraining measures, including the newly introduced jobseeker support programs. In addition, the systems and operational models supporting persons with disabilities (PwDs) in both regions have both similarities and differences, which are worth sharing with the sector.
