The discussion and application of Practice Research have become more popular in the social service sector in recent years aiming at understanding needs of different population group. Based on the Survey on the Quality of Life and Service Needs of the ‘Family Caregivers of Adult with Disabilities’ completed in 2019-2020, Mr Wong Wo Ping, our Council’s Chief Officer (Policy Research and Advocacy) is going to conduct the captioned workshop to demonstrate the skills in using MS Excel tool for basic data analysis to manage their own dataset including identifying caregivers’ overall profile and high risk caregiver groups, thereby strengthening the interested practitioners in evidence-based practice. The New Social Housing Book –《住：以人為主—— 社會房屋共生實踐》(Living: People-centred Co-living Practice of Social Housing) is now officially launched
What is “Living”? Under the distorted housing market, Hong Kong People, especially the grassroots, are living in a housing environment which is increasingly unaffordable albeit dwindling living space. The Hong Kong Council of Social Service has published a new book (in Chinese) on social housing entitled 《住：以人為主——社會房屋共生實踐》(Living: People-centred Co-living Practice of Social Housing). Based on 10 stories of social housing residents, elucidating 10 unique experiences of living, this book genuinely recollects and reflects on the process, experience, challenges and inspirations of a local housing experiment of "Housing x Social Service", redefines the meaning of living and housing, and explores alternative ways for the provision of affordable housing apart from the public and private housing. NGOs, like the business sector, are exposed to the risks of being accused of money laundering and terrorist financing. To guard against such threats and protect their reputation, NGOs should conduct due diligence check to "know your donors", "know your partners" and "know your beneficiaries" when accepting donations and deploying resources.
