
Programme Objective |
The “Treasure Wealth, Treasure Love” Family Financial Education Programme, funded by DBS Foundation and co-organised with the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS), aims to empower underprivileged families in Hong Kong through comprehensive, family-oriented financial education. The programme is designed to improve financial literacy, strengthen communication around financial matters within families, and change the common misconception that “talking about money can harm relationships.”
Launched in November 2024 and running for three years, the programme is built on strong partnerships with social service organisations and DBS volunteers. It will initially serve communities in Kowloon City, Kwai Tsing, Kwun Tong, Sha Tin, Wong Tai Sin, Tuen Mun, Yuen Long, and Sham Shui Po, reaching approximately 6,500 individuals from underprivileged families.

Phase 1 (January to December 2025)
HKCSS is partnering with the first batch of five Community Partners to deliver three key services.
- Financial Literacy Workshop Series
Tailored sessions that provide participants with practical financial knowledge and everyday financial management skills. - Family-Centric Thematic Practical Groupwork
Engaging group activities designed to boost financial confidence and improve family communication in managing household finances. - Family-Centric Financial Coaching
Tailored consultations to help families address specific financial challenges and plan for the future.
Phase 2 (November 2025 to October 2026)
Building on Phase 1, three new Community Partners will be added. The original five Community Partners will continue to provide all three services, while the newly added Community Partners will offer the Family Literacy Workshops and Family-Centric Thematic Practical Groupwork.
Public Education Campaign |

The “Treasure Wealth, Treasure Love” Family Finance & Communication Experiential Day is a highlight of our programme. We have been reaching out to various districts to connect with the public, promoting financial wellbeing and encouraging open family dialogue about money through interactive games. Our goal is to share the message “Talking about money can strengthen family relationships.”

Childhood Is Limited Childhood Is Limited (CIL) is a social enterprise that values children’s mental well-being. Committed to creating a joyful childhood for children, CIL curates’ social innovation programs and provides counselling services as support. “Get Set Go” Parent Financial Academy supports families in acquiring sound financial literacy and practical skills, enhancing financial communication within families and parent-child financial education, thereby promoting family harmony, well-being, and resilience. |

The Chinese Rhenish Church, Hong Kong Synod The Chinese Rhenish Church was Christian Evangelical Lutheran Church, established in 1847, is dedicated to evangelism, education, and welfare services works. The Hong Kong District HK Synod has been providing welfare services since 1964, initially setting up a clinic and nursery in Kwai Chung, and later expanding services to include services for infants, childcare, children & youth, counseling & training, and elderly care. A The Financial Wellness Project is launched to focus on professional counseling, combining integrating family financial education with relationship building to enhance the well-being of grassroots families. The program provides practical financial knowledge and skills, and through systematic counseling services, alleviates emotional distress and relationship conflicts within families caused by financial issues, strengthening family members’ emotional management capabilities and resilience among family members. |

Hong Kong Federation of Women’s CentresHong Kong Federation of Women’s Centres (HKFWC) concern about the situation of grassroots women, and promote gender equality in Hong Kong through services, education and advocacy. Through providing diverse women-oriented services, we aim to help women develop themselves, build confidence, autonomy, and independence. The “Financially Her Way” program is designed to provide financial education to grassroots women and their families, helping women grasp financial concepts and tools to enhance financial literacy. Meanwhile, the program seeks to leverage women’s common caregiving and management roles within the family to foster communication and cooperation on household finances, build consensus, and strengthen family resilience. |

The Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council The Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council aim to enhance social capital and community capacities. By developing community supporting networks and enlisting community participation, the Services aim at instilling a sense of belonging among residents and building up a caring and integrated community. This project aims to help families understand the concept of living within their means, saving methods, spending habits, and the right investment attitudes to cultivate good financial practices and establish positive financial habits. |

Methodist Epworth Village Community Centre, Social Welfare Methodist Epworth Village Community Centre, Social Welfare, was established in 1963. Our aim is to provide high-quality services rooted in the “Spirit of Christian Love,” striving to achieve the goal of “Holistic Care” and committing to meet the needs of various service recipients within the community. “Wealth Comes from Having a Plan” — Family Financial Education Project emphasizes that effective financial education for families is not solely about the accumulation and distribution of assets. It also involves inheriting concepts and values across generations. By recognizing and organizing the rich life experiences and financial wisdom of the elderly, the project promotes communication between seniors and their family members. It encourages the sharing of financial philosophies and life experiences with their children, allowing “wealth” and “wisdom” to evolve together and ensuring that financial knowledge is passed on to the next generation. |

PaterMater PaterMater is the first organization in Hong Kong to promote the concept of “reverse parenting”. It is our belief that adult children play a pivotal role in supporting the ageing journey of their older parents – from resources planning, to emotional support and caregiving – just like how parents used to take care of the children when they were young. Building on the RetirePro tool developed by PaterMater, which assesses the retirement sustainability for an older family member, this project aims to reach out to families with elderly members and caregivers and equip them with the knowledge and tools to plan for a fulfilling and finanncially sustainable retirement. |

SideBySide SideBySide walks alongside excluded individuals, offering understanding and unwavering support to help them integrate into the community and rebuild their sense of belonging. Our diversified services cover areas including Social Rehabilitation, Mental Wellness, Competency Development, Community Education, Cultural Inclusion, and Community Connection. The project aims to support grassroots families—including low‑income households and newly arrived families—who are waiting for or living in public housing estates in Sha Tin, Sham Shui Po, and Wong Tai Sin, as well as those residing in inadequate housing. The programme provides workshops and group activities to enhance financial literacy, motivation, and communication skills within families, thereby strengthening resilience and promoting sustainable financial well‑being and family harmony. It also leverages the organization’s expertise by incorporating education on the prevention of financial‑related crimes, such as loan traps and online or telephone scams. |

Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Healthy Budgeting Family Debt Counselling Centre The Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Healthy Budgeting Family Counselling Centre was officially established in 2003, evolving from the “Healthy Budgeting Family Debt Counselling Programme” launched in 2002. It focuses on providing comprehensive support to individuals troubled by debt and financial difficulties. The centre operates with three core principles: “assisting in crises, preventing problems, and fulfilling dreams.” It is committed to promoting a culture of healthy financial management and helping citizens build a solid financial foundation through cross-sector collaboration. The Wealth Wise Families” Community Financial Education Program is an initiative by our centres that integrates years of experience in financial education and debt counseling. It aims to provide workshops, groups, and counseling to grassroots families in various districts. The goal is to enhance families’ financial management skills and encourage discussions about “money” and love within the household. |
