To support designated professionals and related students under the Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse Ordinance, this free-English-language session would first highlight the Government’s e-learning platform for child protection (https://www.childprotectiontraining.hk), then focus on practical handling skills and scenario-based learning. Embracing the culture of the ethnic minorities, participants will try to apply guiding principles when suspected child maltreatment incidents identified and explore possible actions and follow-up pathways. Lastly, the session also highlights Hong Kong’s child protection service landscape and available training resources.

Practice Wisdom Sharing Session on Handling Suspected Child Maltreatment

Aims

1. Strengthen practical skills to identify and respond to suspected child maltreatment incidents/high-risk cases, from assessment to follow-up.

2. Build cultural competence through practice wisdom sharing, with particular attention to ethnically diverse children and families.

3. Promote cross-sector collaboration and timely referrals, leveraging local child protection services to cast a wide and effective protection web.
