Position Description

The Manager of Fundraising (Grants & Foundations) should possess a strong passion for our vision to see every child in a loving family, and a deep commitment to securing resources that support its mission.

 

This role is aimed at boosting growth in foundation and grant-derived income, contributing to the growth of Mother’s Choice’s annual budget across key income streams to ensure the organization’s continued impact in the future. This role involves strategic planning, relationship management, and oversight of grant application processes to ensure the NGO’s financial sustainability and programmatic success.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Strategic Planning

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy for grants and foundations.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial needs assessments across services, aligning organizational needs with available fundraising resources to establish clear strategies and targets.
  • Identify funding priorities and align them with the NGO’s mission and goals.

 

Relationship Management

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with foundation representatives, family offices, grant officers, and potential donors.
  • Develop a deep understanding of each potential partner through nurturing of relationship, engagement, and collaboration with team members.
  • Represent the NGO at meetings, conferences, and events to promote funding opportunities.

 

Grant Identification and Management

  • Conduct research to identify potential grant opportunities from local, national, and international foundations.
  • Collaborate with data research and service teams to align impact evidence across grant proposals and funder reporting, overseeing the timely preparation and submission of reports that demonstrate programme outcomes, responsible use of funds, agreed performance measures, and the impact of funder investments.
  • Stay informed about funding trends and emerging opportunities.

 

Proposal Development

  • Lead the preparation and submission of high-quality grant proposals.
  • Collaborate with programme staff to gather necessary data and insights for proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements and deadlines.

 

Capacity Building

  • Train and mentor staff on grant writing and fundraising best practices.
  • Foster a culture of philanthropy within the organization.
  • Oversee building and maintenance of database to capture information that will support relationships with key stakeholders as well as all activities related analysis.
  • Explore and implement new systems through grant management software and fundraising platforms – as seen fitted and required.


Impact Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Be able to define key performance indicators and outcome metrics, and design data collection frameworks to ensure alignment with funder requirements and organizational mission.
  • Work closely with data research team to translate impact data into compelling narratives and insights that effectively communicate organizational impact with potential and current funders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure impact narratives are accurately reflected in donor reports as well as internal and external communications. These reports will be critical to showcase our sense of accountability and transparency.

 

Communications and Campaigns

  • Partner with Marketing and Communications on development of messages and content catering the foundation audience.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 8 years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, or resource development within the nonprofit sector, with a proven track record of securing funding from foundations and government sources. Past experience as a programme manager preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Chinese preferred), with exceptional writing skills to create compelling narratives and articulate programme goals.
  • Familiarity with various grant application processes, grant management systems, and fundraising software (e.g., Salesforce, GrantHub, etc.), as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and online research tools.
  • Understanding of nonprofit financial management and budgeting processes.
  • Must share the commitment of Mother’s Choice in upholding the safety and protection of children as paramount.
