Deputy Manager (Community Resilience)

 

Job Purpose:

The role works closely with the Manager/Senior Manager (Community Resilience) and the broader team to develop, lead, and deliver a portfolio of community resilience projects. These initiatives aim to strengthen general public and key stakeholders’ knowledge and practical skills in disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, and “working with nature” approaches in Hong Kong.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Manager/ Senior Manager to formulate the strategic direction on public awareness and advocacy on community resilience agenda by providing situational analysis and proposing recommendations, in line with the corporate strategic direction;
  • Plan and design awareness and education model to enhance awareness on community resilience, climate change adaptation, working with nature agenda to general public and key stakeholders;
  • Lead the team to drive the development and execution of projects, provide professional intervention by timely review and evaluate community resilience service projects to assure continuous improvement and compliance with strategic direction;
  • Explore and identify resource needs and ensure the mobilization of staff and volunteers to provide quality service, as well as collaborate with other teams and service units in running projects to achieve the aligned goals;
  • Establish network and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, such as community partners, academia, government departments and NGOs for collaboration and support.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, preferably in climate & environmental studies, human science, social service or disaster management
  • Minimum 5 years post-graduation and related working experience with supervisory experience
  • Sound knowledge and experiences in working with community, familiar with community needs and its unique groups, preferably has experience in community resilience and disaster risks projects
  • Sound leadership, analytical and coordination skills.
  • Good communication skills with stakeholders and community partners.
  • Good people management and interpersonal skills, strong sense of responsibility, mature and able to work independently and under pressure.
  • Good command in both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua)

 

Contract Period: 2 years
