Invitation to Policy Seminar on ‘Policy Framework for Social-medical Collaboration’

The Food and Health Bureau is going to release the “blueprint for the sustainable development of primary healthcare services for Hong Kong” to set a long-term development plan for primary healthcare in Hong Kong with a view to enhancing public health and quality of life. Our Council has always been concerned about primary health issues, and hopes to put forward feasible service and policy recommendations of ‘social-medical collaboration’ to achieve the above goals. In order to promote understanding of the role that social services can play in primary healthcare, and to explore policy framework for social-medical collaboration, our Council is going to hold a policy seminar on ‘Policy Framework for Social-medical Collaboration’, to invite scholars from the social service sector and healthcare sector, Legislative Council member to share their views on the above topics. The seminar will also include a panel discussion for speakers and participants to exchange ideas on the above topics. Invitation to Community Support for Carers: “Call for Ideas” Programme

(Final Call: the application deadline is 11 February, 2022) The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) and PolyU Jockey Club Design Institute for Social Innovation (JCDISI) co-organise the “Community Support for Carers” Programme. The programme is under Season 13 of PolyU Jockey Club “Operation SoInno”. All Agency Members are cordially invited to participate in the programme. In realising innovative ideas, we aspire to improve carer’s situation and build a more carer-friendly community! 6-9 teams will be selected to participate in a total of four sessions of co-creation workshops, in which JCDISI would provide design thinking training and professional support. Throughout the workshops, selected teams would verify their ideas and modify the action plan. The organisers (HKCSS and JCDISI) will further select 3 outstanding teams to enter the Action Project stage. The teams will carry out the action plans within a one-year period, with support including financial, programme design and community liaison from PolyU Jockey Club “Operation SoInno”. Count Us In: Deliberation Day for Social Inclusion (Forum: 14th January 2022)

Hong Kong society has shown a growing awareness of different ethnicities and cultures. The increasing population and the growing role of the ethnic minority community have observed a turning point for policy and practices in creating a more inclusive and diverse society. While all members of the public are key enablers of society inclusion and diversity, the ethnic minority community’s voices are especially pertinent. To develop a systematic tool for tracking local social development and overall assessment of needs in social inclusion and diversity, the Council initiates the construction of a Hong Kong inclusion and Diversity (HKiD) Index for the advocacy of a socially inclusive society. It is important to engage the ethnic minorities as well as stakeholders’ working, for the cause of consolidating their experiences on the ways that ethnic minorities are socially included in their everyday life. Therefore, an engagement activity titled Count Us In: Deliberation Day for Social Inclusion are organized for ethnic minorities and professionals from different sectors who are concerned with ethnic minorities’ issues in a participatory discussion on the factors and life domains concerning social inclusion and diversity of Hong Kong.
