Anti-money Laundering/Counter-financing of Terrorism Due Diligence Toolkit for Hong Kong NGOs

With an aim to provide NGOs with the latest legal and regulatory requirements related to anti-money laundering/counter-financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) as well as tools to address the risks of money laundering/terrorist financing (ML/TF), the Council has collaborated with Mayer Brown and BNP Paribas to develop the Anti-money Laundering/Counter-financing of Terrorism Due Diligence Toolkit for Hong Kong NGOs.  The Toolkit includes information on implementing an AML/CFT risk management framework that is commensurate to the scale and scope of the NGO’s operation, guidelines on due diligence according to different types of donations, a non-exhaustive checklist for identifying and detecting ML/TF risks, a due diligence checklist on donors, partners and beneficiaries, and a segregation of duties checklist ...

Guided Tour & Networking Session: Jockey Club “age at home” Gerontech Education and Rental Service

In view of the challenges and opportunities arising from the ageing population, more and more NGOs have embarked on their gerontechnology initiatives with a view to addressing the ageing issue and facilitating the development and application of gerontechnology in Hong Kong.  To allow NGO board members and senior management to better understand the latest development and landscape of gerontechnology, the Council is going to organize a guided tour and networking session to the first Gerontech Education and Rental Service in Hong Kong. Through the visitation to two service centres in Fotan and Shatin, participants will not only understand how gerontechnology plays an important role in facilitating and realizing “ageing-in-place”, but also exchange thoughts and explore collaborations on applications of gerontechnology for NGOs’ future service development. Webinar on Corruption Prevention Tips for NGOs

Procurement and material management, provision of services, and management of staff are examples of activities from NGOs’ daily operations where the risks of corruption and abuse may emerge. In order to help agencies in maintaining a high integrity standard and adopting necessary safeguards to reduce the risks of corruption, the Council has invited officers from the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) to share on integrity management, corruption prevention principles, concerns that may have arisen during NGOs’ operations and the recommended control measures with aid of case studies. The Council and our partners have launched the NGO Governance Health Programme in 2021. 50 organisations participated in a board governance health assessment and a series of webinars, workshops and consultations were organised for the participating organisations to further enhance their knowledge and understanding on board governance. Workshop on Data Governance for NGOs

In light of the growing importance of data in governance and strategy development and its execution, the Council has partnered with PwC to co-organize the “Webinar on Data Governance for NGOs” in June 2021. With positive feedbacks of the Webinar, the Council is once again collaborating with PwC to conduct a “Workshop on Data Governance for NGOs”, providing a more in-depth discussion on implementation challenges and hands-on assistance in developing a data governance strategy. Based on an initial assessment of maturity of data governance, the workshop will guide the participating NGOs through key tasks of formulating a Data Governance Plan and facilitate the NGOs in developing a preliminary road map for execution.
