      The HKEX Foundation donates HKD 3 million to 30 agency members of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS), who are not receiving recurrent subventions from the Hong Kong government. The relief fund aims to provide financial support to organisations who are adversely affected by the current economic and social situation due to COVID-19, in order to continue their services for children, elderly, people with disabilities, families and more. Each selected organisation will receive HKD 100,000 for the services in the coming three to four months. Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES) is a flagship event jointly hosted by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service to promote technological application and innovation as a promising solution to enhance the quality of life of the elderly and people with disabilities in both the community and institutional setting. The 4th Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES) is confirmed to be held during 19-22 November 2020.  GIES 2020 would continue to include thematic exhibition booths and pavilions to showcase the latest innovations and ideas for better living of elderly persons as well as other people with special needs.  In addition, workshops and interactive programmes would also be organized to provide a diversified experience for the participants.  Apart from inviting more exhibitors, including both local and those from overseas to bring in through GIES new insights for the social service sector, we also plan to set up a special zone for the welfare sector to demonstrate how gerontech can enhance the quality of life of service users and that of their carers, and improve the working environment for front line staff in the social service industry.
