One of Hong Kong’s greatest yet underutilised strengths lie in its ethnic diversity.  With ethnic minorities accounting for 8.4% of the population and a steady influx of global talent, this diversity is more than an opportunity – it is a strategic imperative.  By fostering an inclusive and ethnically diverse talent pool, Hong Kong can unlock fresh perspectives, encourage collaboration, and drive the innovation essential to sustaining its position as a thriving global hub.

The challenge, however, goes beyond attracting top talent. It demands creating an environment where diversity is not just represented but truly empowered to flourish.  How can Hong Kong embrace its multicultural communities as a cornerstone of its future? How can it retain, nurture, and amplify diverse talent to fuel its transformation into a more inclusive, innovative, and resilient international city?

This session will explore these critical questions, bringing together experts in social policy, business, and community development to discuss practical strategies for strengthening Hong Kong’s diverse talent pool.  Speakers will examine how Hong Kong’s unique ethnic landscape can be integrated into broader economic initiatives, including the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), to enhance global connectivity and competitiveness.
