Manager (Community Resilience)

 

Job Purpose:

The core purpose of this role is to provide leadership for Community Resilience Service. S/he works closely with the Senior Manager (Community Resilience) to lead development and execution of Community Resilience team to support the Hong Kong Red Cross in organizing and coordinating community resilience service in Hong Kong.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Senior Manager to steer service direction in community resilience in Hong Kong with subjects including disaster risk reduction, climate, nature, and urban development.
  • Lead a team of staff and volunteers in providing quality training on resilience and disaster preparedness.
  • Ensure effective implementation of strategies and actions to strengthen the knowledge and skills of the community resilience projects in raising awareness and enhance capacity on disaster preparedness and resilience from the public, at-risk population groups, and other stakeholders.
  • Explore and develop new initiatives and enhancement to assure quality, efficiency and continuous improvement to meet social needs and community expectations.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders, including government, funding bodies, NGOs etc. to gain knowledge, collaboration and support.
  • Contribute to the development and presentation of projects to solicit funding to enhance and support the operation of the community resilience training / activities / service programmes.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, preferably in human science, social service, disaster management or climate & sustainability subjects
  • Minimum 5 years’ post-graduate relevant work experience in community service, including at least 3 years at managerial level
  • Familiar with needs of the community and its unique groups, preferably those related to disaster risks, climate and nature
  • Strong capacity and experience with training background is preferred
  • Strong leadership, people management and coordination skills with the ability to motivate and build a high-performing team
  • Mature personality, strategic mindset with vision, strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Excellent command of both written and oral English, Chinese/Cantonese/Putonghua
