Community Housing Movement –Inviting NGOs and social enterprises to operate 2 units at Peng Chau

Community Housing Movement is a new initiative of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. We are committed to working with property owners, NGOs and social enterprises to provide affordable and decent transitional social housing. The project is aimed at not only meeting the temporary housing needs of the grassroots without support of public rental housing, but also enhancing their individual capacity, and strengthening their community network. Through the provision of social housing, tenants are empowered to live independently in the market or move to the public rental housing. After launching a couple of projects, we are now planning to release a new batch of flats located at Peng Chau, Island District. There are a total of 2 units in this project. Seminar on Staff Salary Policy & Practices for Non-subvented Organizations

Welfare agencies are providing labour intensive human services so it is essential for NGOs to attract, motivate and retain the right employees to support their operation. In general, the lion’s share of agencies’ operating costs is usually on staffing. The board therefore should ensure appropriate staff salary policy and practices are in place for the long term sustainability of their organizations.  To provide occasions for NGO governors to discuss and exchange on how to set policies related to staff salaries and pay adjustment, the Council will arrange two seminars for non-subvented and subvented organizations respectively.
