Anti-epidemic Fund – Retail Sector Subsidy Scheme Opens for Social Enterprises’ Application
To provide relief to retailers to tide over their financial difficulties arising from the epidemic, the Government has established a HK$ 5.6 billion “Retail Sector Subsidy Scheme” under the “Anti-epidemic Fund”. Under the Scheme, a one-off subsidy of HK$80,000 will be provided to each eligible retail store, subject to a ceiling of HK$3 million for retail stores under the same organization. Retail store of social enterprises can apply for the Scheme through Social Enterprise Business Centre (SEBC) of the Council. Two e-briefing sessions will be organized to help applicants understand the programme details. Details of application and briefing sessions are as follows. Application Details Eligibility of application Applicant has to be conducting substantial and substantive retail business at fixed physical and individually operated store in Hong Kong; and Meeting the following criteria: (a) Listed on the Social Enterprise Directory maintained by HKCSS; or (b) Accredited under the Social Enterprise Endorsement (SEE) Mark administered by the Hong Kong General Chamber of Social Enterprises (HKGCSE); or (c) Supported by government grants, such as the Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund, Enhancing Self-Reliance Through District Partnership Programme and Enhancing Employment of People with Disabilities through Small Enterprise Project; and Commenced business before ...

Community Housing Movement –Inviting pre-qualified service operators to operate individual owners’ units
Community Housing Movement is a new initiative of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. We are committed to working with property owners, NGOs and social enterprises to provide affordable and decent transitional social housing. The project is aimed at not only meeting the temporary housing needs of the grassroots without support of public rental housing, but also enhancing their individual capacity, and strengthening their community network. Through the provision of social housing, tenants are empowered to live independently in the market or move to the public rental housing. After the project was launched, the HKCSS has been collecting some vacant flats from different property owners who are willing to rent out their flats for more than 2 years and at the rent below market price. These flats are usually scattered across 18 districts and can’t be grouped for renting. In view of this, we have made an alternative arrange to facilitate NGOs and social enterprises to operate.
