Assistant Manager (Red Cross Shop)

 

Job Purpose:

The Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing the operation and development of the Red Cross Shop, supporting HKRC’s humanitarian mission through the promotion of its values and brand. The role manages shop operations, procurement activities, business planning, marketing initiatives, and stakeholder engagement to ensure efficient, quality, and cost-effective services. Working closely with the Senior Manager (Corporate Service) and Head of Corporate Service, the incumbent supports the implementation of business strategies, enhances operational performance, and drives continuous improvement to ensure the Red Cross Shop operates in a professional, customer-focused, and sustainable manner.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the Red Cross Shop, including sales, procurement, inventory and warehouse management, customer service, and online sales platforms.
  • Oversee product sourcing, vendor management, procurement processes, contract administration, and quality control to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
  • Support business planning, budgeting, sales and marketing initiatives to enhance the Shop’s visibility, sustainability, and contribution to the Hong Kong Red Cross (HKRC) mission.
  • Develop and implement promotional campaigns, products, and partnership initiatives to strengthen public engagement and promote HKRC’s humanitarian values.
  • Lead system enhancement projects for the Point-of-Sale (POS) system and online shopping platform to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop staff and volunteers to ensure high-quality service delivery and effective team performance.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal departments, suppliers, corporate partners, and other stakeholders to support business development and organizational objectives.
  • Monitor operational performance, prepare management reports and budgets, and drive continuous improvement, sustainability, and compliance in all shop operations.
  • Funding proposal writing and application for new initiatives / campaigns to promote humanitarian messages to the supporters.

 

Requirements:

  • Recognized University degree holder in business stream, preferably in retail management/sales & marketing with minimum 5 years relevant experience, and at least 2 years at supervisory role in administering daily operation and management of shop
  • Solid experience in procurement or marketing / retail industry / retail shop management / POS system management / warehouse management is required
  • Knowledge and experience in NGO / social enterprise environment, funding proposal development and, grant application preparation will be considered a distinct advantage.
  • Well organized, client-oriented, excellent communication and people management skills, independent, self-motivated and able to work under pressure
  • Proficient in both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua)

 

Contract Period: 1 year (Renewable)

Work Schedule:

44 hours per week by roster 

Within Mondays to Saturdays from 9:30a.m.– 6:45pm (or Sunday/Public Holidays when required)
