Report Back Session on Supportive Housing Models for Different Target Groups and Caregiver Centers in Barcelona, Spain (7th May, 2024)

In the past few years, the Hong Kong government and various sectors have been paying close attention to the housing needs of grassroots communities. They have not only emphasized increasing quantity, speed, and efficiency but also focused on improving quality and creating a sense of happiness and care in housing developments. Barcelona, Spain, is a Caring City, and as a city that cares for vulnerable groups, the local government has been actively providing supports in housing supply and community support for low-income families, homeless individuals, elderly residents, and caregivers. Last year, the Hong Kong Council of Social Service organized a study tour titled "Study Tour on Supportive Housing Models for Different Target Groups and Caregiver Centers in Barcelona, Spain." By participating in an International Social Housing Festival and visiting various housing projects, the study tour aimed to understand how the government of Barcelona, Spain, supports and cares for vulnerable groups in the community and housing sector. Comparative Social Housing Conference on Housing Development and Well Being cum Workshop

In last 5 years, HKCSS has been at the forefront of social housing development launching two significant projects: The Community Housing Movement Project and the Modular Social Housing Project since 2017 and 2019 respectively in order to support the Government to tackle issues of unaffordable and indecent housing environment of the grassroots.  These projects aim to provide short-term relief to meet the housing needs of vulnerable groups and improve their community lives in their respective residential districts. This conference aims to explore how housing design and social programs can enhance the well-being of residents, particularly low-income families with children, and the elderly. We are inviting local and overseas guest speakers to share their best practices in social and public housing, as well as their experiences in implementing housing projects. Their experience and forward-looking views will be invaluable to the Hong Kong’s social and public housing development. We hope the seminar can provide a platform for overseas relevant parties and the audiences to exchange experience, research and knowledge on supporting services for social and public housing in Hong Kong. 由香港房屋協會管理的策誠軒「暫租住屋」項目接受新一輪申請

香港房屋協會(房協)宣布,策誠軒「暫租住屋」項目將於2023年2月14日至2月27日接受新一輪申請,為合資格的公屋輪候家庭提供過渡性房屋。 位於大埔的策誠軒是香港鐵路有限公司(港鐵公司)物業,房協與港鐵公司於2019年簽訂協議,以借用方式使用策誠軒,由房協營運過渡性房屋,並於2020年首次接受申請。策誠軒共提供180多個單位作過渡性房屋之用,當中由香港房屋協會管理的有130多個單位,另有51個單位由社聯管理。由社聯委託的營運機構(現時為基督教香港信義會社會服務部),除了管理該51個單位外,同時會向整個策誠軒180多個住戶提供社會服務。 是次接受申請的單位約有30個,均為房協負責管理、營運機構提供社會服務的,面積由約27-47平方米,每月暫准居住費用由約HK$2,856-$5,100,讓輪候公屋達三年或以上的三至六人家庭申請暫住。申請費用全免。詳情請參閱附件的單張或房協專屬網頁(tracksidevillas.hkhs.com)。 會員通告 ...

Social Housing – Call for proposals on service operation for the project of Trackside Villa

We are inviting the new service operator for the Trackside Villas social housing project.  It has been implemented for 3 years under the Community Housing Movement which ended in 2020.  As a social housing project, it remains in operation and aimed at not only meeting the temporary housing needs of the grassroots without support of public rental housing, but also enhancing their individual capacity, and strengthening their community network. Through the provision of social housing, tenants are empowered to live independently in the market or move to the public rental housing after the end of a tenancy. There are 185 social housing units located at Tai Po Kau for operation. The flat size is around 27 to 47 m2. The lease term is 3 years. The tentative move-in date will be around July, 2023. Now a service operator is invited to help in two parts: (1) allocate and manage 51 flats (Remark: the remaining units are managed by the Hong Kong Housing Society instead), and (2) provide community social services to all households living in these 185 flats. Invitation for joining Nam Cheong 220 Exhibition- “Our Housing Diary”

Nam Cheong 220 is the first project which has adopted Modular Integrated Construction method to build transitional social housing in Hong Kong, with the site provided by Henderson Land Group.  Since then, with the support of the Government, more and more transitional social housings have been gradually completed and spread over Hong Kong, Kowloon and New Territories.  Nam Cheong 220 as a pilot project, has also found that social housing can enhance the mutual help supports to the neighborhood, connect the larger Sham Shui Po community and assist in the redistribution of community resources.  From 22 October, 2022, “Nam Cheong 220” will be transformed into “Our Housing Diary”.  It records the living condition of the grassroots in social housing and subdivided housing, displays the learnings, insights and impacts from the first social housing - Nam Cheong 220, and invites readers to write down their housing stories in Hong Kong and continue to explore different way out together.
