The Hong Kong Council of Social Service
will host the Inaugural Global Ageing Impact Summit

[Press Release, 14 August 2026] The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) will host the inaugural Global Ageing Impact Summit (“GAIS”) in 2027.

A new global platform mobilizing action for healthier, more inclusive and resilient ageing societies.

The inaugural “Global Ageing Impact Summit” will take place from 9 to 12 November 2027 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, alongside HKCSS’s flagship event, the “Gerontechnology and Innovation Expo cum Summit” (“GIES”) from 10 to 13 November.

GAIS will bring together governments, policymakers, researchers, health and social care leaders, civil society, investors, innovators and industries from around the world to shape responses to demographic shifts of this in ways that improve lives and create sustainable social and economic impact.

As an impact-oriented platform, the Summit, alongside with the Expo (GIES), connects policy, evidence, innovation, investment and implementation.  Its ambition is to move beyond discussion to examining what is working, what can be scaled and what can be adapted across countries and regions.

The Summit is forged to engage stakeholders from diverse sectors and industries, empowered by technology, to learn, innovate and collaborate for impactful solutions that may transform the challenges of demographic ageing into opportunities for societal development.

The year 2027 coincides with two historic milestones: the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and the 80th Anniversary of HKCSS.

Hong Kong provides a distinctive gateway between Chinese Mainland, Asia and the international community. GAIS will give international delegates the opportunity to engage with policy development, innovation and implementation emerging from one of the world’s fastest-ageing regions, while bringing global experiences and expertise into not just productive conversation.  More importantly, through cross-regional and cross-disciplinary collaboration, GAIS aims to build partnerships, knowledge and practical pathways needed to create measurable and lasting impact across ageing societies.

From global dialogue to impact action

The Summit is designed to strategically empower societies by mobilizing global expertise, policy, innovation and investment to drive social impacts through three inter-connected levers of systemic change:

• Human-centric Practice in Community: Driving evidence-backed social innovation solutions through thematic workshops, solution labs, and global case studies.
• Policy Framework and Initiatives: Convening Senior Officials Meetings (SOM) and policy roundtables, bringing together multilateral officials and regional leaders to modernise regulations and care frameworks.
• Impact Investment: Facilitating regional investment matchmaking sessions and startup pitching sessions to connect scalable social innovations matching capital.

Together, these are intended to connect policy ambition with implementation and give international delegates opportunities not simply to exchange ideas, but to identify solutions, partnerships and models relevant to their own countries and jurisdictions.

The Summit will focus on six thematic Impact Pillars reflecting some of the most urgent challenges facing ageing societies worldwide:

• Age-Friendly Cities and Communities: Urban planning, universal design, barrier-free facilities, and inclusive community environments.
• Care & Workforce: Caregiver support, professional training, and workforce upskilling/re-skilling.
• Economy and Finance: Silver economy, quality assurance and standards, financial literacy, and long-term care financing.
• Healthy Longevity: Preventive healthcare, mental wellness and social connectedness, screening and immunization.
• Policy & Rights: Combating ageism, technology-facilitated abuse, and intergenerational inclusion.
• Technology: Accelerating the adoption and accessibility of gerontechnology, including assistive robotics, AI-powered eldercare solutions.

To create lasting impact beyond the Summit, GAIS will support leadership development, impact evaluation and recognition of best practice to help translate the momentum generated by the Summit into sustained action.
