The Hong Kong Medical Association Charitable Foundation – Call for Funding Application 2020
The Hong Kong Medical Association Charitable Foundation (the Foundation) will be holding “The HKMA 100th Anniversary Charity Concert” at the Concert Hall, Hong Kong City Hall on Sunday, 21 June 2020. Related expenses of the concert will be borne by the Hong Kong Medical Association. All funds raised, without any deduction, will be donated to a registered charitable organization (the beneficiary) for charitable project that helps alleviate the sufferings of the underprivileged. The charity concert should be considered as a platform for the beneficiary to seek donations from their own connection. For this reason, all applicants will be expected to have their list of potential major donors on hand at the time of application. The Foundation will through publicity appeal to the medical profession and the general public for donation. In the past, donations collected through our concerts ranged from around HK$0.2 million to over 1.5 million, depending on the public’s perception and awareness of the project. Agency Governors’ Forum on Review of Lump Sum Grant Subvention System (LSGSS) 2020
The Social Welfare Department set up the “Task Force for Review on Enhancement of LSGSS” in November 2017 and decided to review LSGSS according to the following scope of 8 items: (a) Operating environment of NGOs under the LSGSS (b) Review of staffing establishment and subvention benchmarks (c) Use of LSG/PF reserve and financial planning (d) Pay structures, staff turnover rate and vacancies (e) FSA-related activities and flexibility provided for NGOs (f) Mechanisms for reviewing FSAs and NGOs’ service performance assessment (g) Transparency and public accountability (h) Communication and participation of stakeholders After two years' review, it is expected that the Task Force should have discussed 6-8 items by the end of 2019. In this connection, the Council is going to organize three forums for the Boards and heads of concerned agencies in February 2020 to update the progress of the review, and to align the views of the sector with regard to the recommendations. Assistance Programme to Improve the Living Environment of Low-income Subdivided Unit Households – Service Operators – Open for Application
Application Period: Dec 20, 2019 - Jan 17, 2020 Funded by the Community Care Fund (CCF), a total of HKD287.04 million has been allocated to the “Assistance Programme to Improve the Living Environment of Low-income Subdivided Unit Households” (The Programme). The Programme will operate for 2 years starting from the second quarter of 2020. It is administered by the Social Welfare Department and operated by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, and will partner with non-governmental organisations to provide support services for the benefit of 24,000 SDU households. Partner NGOs will outreach to SDU households and help them improve their living environment through carrying out minor improvement/repair works, purchasing furniture and household goods as well as pest control services. The Programme also aims at providing SDU households with welfare information and easier access to community resources, as well as engaging volunteers so as to build mutual-care networks within local communities.
