In order to get the practitioners of the sector to know the Council’s latest research findings and recommendations in a precise and concise manner, the Council has endeavored to publish Research Brief from time to time.  A new Research Brief Issue 1 and 2 for the year of 2020-2021 has just been published, introducing research titled “The Survey on Quality of Life and Service Need of Caregiver of Adult with Disability” and “Exploratory Research on the Obstacles Faced by CSSA Applicants”. Each research brief covers basic background of the core issue and policy significance of the research, followed by research objectives, research methods adopted and key research findings, so that readers are able to capture the key findings for reference. The social welfare sector is committed to the promotion of service and policy development through research and advocacy. In the past years, the Council has organized conferences and workshops in the theme of research or advocacy to introduce evidence-based practice and different advocacy strategies. Through sharing local wisdoms and overseas’ experience, we hope to promote exchange and learning among NGO practitioners. Unfortunately, the Conference & Workshop were cancelled last year due to the pandemic. The Council initiates the 1st Annual Conference on Policy Research and Advocacy this year. The theme of this conference is "Rooted in Fact: the Power of Research and Advocacy in the Social Welfare Sector" and we are glad to have Mr Lam Chiu-ying, the Chairman of Hong Kong Countryside Foundation as our Keynote Speaker. With the local practitioners' sharings, participants can explore the possibility of research and advocacy in the current social environment.
