There are 3.6 million working population and 2.2 million family households in Hong Kong, averaging 1.6 working members in each family, whom need to take care of both their work and family. Good mental health and family relationship are very important as they provide the employees with strengths to face day-to-day challenges. Working with social service organizations to develop “Family Friendly” corporate culture, companies can provide the services such as employee supportive services, counseling, family education, parenting activities, voluntary training, etc.

Well-performed Parents

The birth rate in Hong Kong is the lowest amongst the world. Many couples are not confident enough to become good parents who can teach and guide their children well. Employers can work with social service organizations in providing various kinds of services including child care, education, personal enhancement and parent-child programmes. All these facilitate employees to perform well at work and at home, gear better child development and family solidarity, and help developing Hong Kong's human capital.

Taking Care of Elderly

Hong Kong people are enjoying longer longevity, life expectancy for men is 79 years and 85 years for women respectively. Working people have to take care of their children and parents at the same time, some people eventually give up their job and become full-time carers. Employers can cooperate with socials services organization in helping their employees to take care of elderly. This includes a series of services such as home-based services, day care centre, carer service, personal emergency link service, day/residential respite service, elderly holiday centres, etc.
