  • 20 funding application proposals had been collected for providing elderly services for Dementia patients. The selected programme is officially launched.

3.          Discussion

3.1      Preparation for the 15th Anniversary of the Caring Company Scheme in   2017

  • More than 170 companies will be awarded with 10+ and 15+ years Caring Company logo in 2017. The committee was invited to suggest programmes and theme for more engagement with the Caring Companies.
  • Programme ideas suggested
    • Posting advertisements, delivering leaflets, showcase exhibitions
    • Invite stakeholders and companies of different sizes under the scheme to share their experiences over the years, so as to revisit the core values, their growth and impacts to inspire other companies for CSR ideas.
    • Mr. Cliff Choi mentioned a business school of University in US has been following Caring Company as their case study in the past 2 years. The Committee agreed to invite local institute to perform a business case study for the scheme.
  • Theme suggested
    • The committee agreed that focusing solely on age-friendly society would be too narrow for long term development.
    • Wider themes such as inter-generations, all-age-friendly, caring for marginalized groups were suggested.
    • Innovation is also agreed as one of the crucial elements for successful practices.
    • The new theme could be supported by an award as an encouragement.

3.2      HKCSS Channel : seeking feedback from members

  • A video of HKCSS Channel was showed to the committee prior to the introduction of the Channel’s background. One video would be broadcasted once a week through eDM and Facebook. Number of views per video ranged from 1,000 to 20,000+ which depends on the popularity of topic. The videos would also be broadcasted through different partners. Some corporates and donors approached the Council for collaboration opportunities after watching the videos. Positive feedbacks had been collected from Council’s internal survey on HKCSS Channel’s performance. The committee made suggestions for boosting videos’ visibility and popularity.
  • Suggestions from Committee
    • Video viewers’ attention is dropping drastically over the years. In other words, a successful video should be able to grasp viewers’ attention at the very beginning.
    • Attending Facebook’s seminars would be helpful for more inspirations.
    • More cost effective to allocate resources to promote on Facebook.
    • A mobile friendly website is one of the keys to boost visibility.
    • A digital media techniques sharing session could be arranged in AIM.
    • A specific time slot of ViuTV is allocated for playing community services programmes. May consider liaise with them to explore collaboration opportunities.
    • Quite challenging to involve students in video production. Instead, may consider inviting students to respond on topics covered by HKCSS Channel or posting links on EDB.

3.3      The HKCSS Convention

  • Mr. Cliff Choi invited the committee to support in the event.
  • The committee agreed to address the importance of community building on the event day.
