100 Hurdles in Poverty Alleviation - Invitation of Views
100個滅貧障礙 意見徵集

You are cordially invited to provide us with information /views on hurdles in the poverty alleviation work. The information / views will be compiled and discussed with Government so as to clear these obstacles. If you have experiences / views on the subject, please fill in the form 意見徵集表 (in Chinese only) and return it on or before March 24, 2006 by email (connie.chan@hkcss.org.hk) or by fax (2864 2999) to Ms. Chan.

Objective: Learn about the challenges faced by the poor in Hong Kong from first hand accounts
Activities: Five days of poverty visitations will be arranged. Participants will have the opportunity to visit and learn from poor families various districts in Hong Kong.
Date: August 23, 25, 31, September 6 and 7 (completed)

  • Ethnic minority families
  • Working poor and women workers
  • Youth in poverty
  • Middle-aged poor
  • Sex workers’ families
  • New arrival families

Objective:
  • Share and process learning from visitations
  • Build cross-sector consensus about child poverty, its causes and challenge
  • Discuss potential solutions for alleviating poverty
Activities: Three sessions of Round Table Discussions will be held. Participants will meet and discuss on three different topics.

  • To establish a clear and unified position on child poverty
  • To develop policy proposals to combat child poverty
Activities: A multi-stakeholders strategy dialogue will be held in conjunction with the 17/10 International Day for the Eradication of Poverty .
