21th Asia Pacific Social Work Conference 15-18 July 2011; Tokyo, Japan
A delegation has attended the biennial IFSW regional conference in Tokyo from 15-18 July. The theme of conference was ¡§Crossing Borders: Interdependent Living and Solidarity¡¨ and discussed cross borders issues in national and cultural levels. Topics on international definition of social work, human mobility, global agenda for social work and social development were also discussed.
The 49th Session of UN Commission for Social Development 8-12 February 2011; New York, USA
A HKCSS delegation attended above meeting in New York from 8-12 February 2011. The priority theme of meeting was poverty eradication in which UN member states, civil society and other stakeholders examined poverty¡¦s interrelationship with social integration and full employment and decent work for all. In addition to the priority theme, the session also reviewed of relevant United Nations plans and programmes of action pertaining to the situation of social groups: persons with disabilities, youth, ageing, and the family.
2010 Joint Conference on Social Work and Social Development: The Agenda 10-14 June 2010; Hong Kong
Being one of the local hosts and the Conference Secretariat, HKCSS successfully co-organized the captioned conference during 10-14 June 2010 in Hong Kong. About 2300 participants from 114 countries and regions participated in the Conference. About 150 plenary, symposium and workshop sessions were arranged, with about 756 oral presentations and 344 poster presentations. 5 pre-conference workshops on Social Protection, Definition of Social Work, Ethics, Human Rights and Birth Registration were conducted. The Conference provided a platform for participants to exchange and develop a new action agenda for global social work and social development in the next decade.
20th Asia Pacific Social Work Conference & APASWE Social Workers Conference, 11-13 November, 2009 Auckland, New Zealand
A delegation was sent to the IFSW: Asia Pacific Region meeting in New Zealand. The conference theme this year is: Many voices, many communities, social justice for all. Subthemes are: Population dislocation; indigenous populations; social work education, research and practice; social justice and youth justice; social exclusion and inclusion / empowerment of communities/ community development. Around 500 participants joint the conference to share their views on various themes. 2010 the World Joint Conference was also promoted in the conference.
2009 North East Asia Region Conference of ICSW cum Study Visit 19-21 Oct, 2009; Taipei, Taiwan
A delegation of three went to Taiwan to join the captioned event and visited 4 organisations: Department of Social Welfare of Taipei City Government, Child Welfare League Foundation, Chinese Culture and Social Welfare Fund and Social Work Department of National Taiwan University.
