《Housing Talk》—How Does the Dutch Gov't Creates Conditions for the Development of Social Housing?

Housing – News      2016/03/18

The number of applications in the long waiting list for public rental housing, and average waiting time keep breaking the record. The grassroots households without the support of the public rental housing involuntarily live in the indecent and unaffordable private rental housing. Yet, the Chief Executive did not propose any short and medium term solutions to meet their housing needs, but merely reiterated the future target of housing units to build as well as land supply.

To encourage stakeholders in the field to explore the possible way out for Hong Kong’s housing problem, The Council publishes the second policy brief to introduce the Dutch social housing, particularly analyzing how the Dutch government creates conditions for the development of social housing. Some questions are raised to stimulate readers to think about other possible housing solutions.

The second issue of “Housing Talk” in 2016 can be downloaded here. You are most welcome to express your ideas by sending it direct to Mr. Charles Ho, Officer of Policy Research and Advocacy at charles.ho@hkcss.org.hk. Thank you very much and we look forward to hearing from you!
