Community Housing Movement – Workshop on Social Housing Practices

Housing – Seminar      2019/03/29

Community Housing Movement is a new initiative of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. We are committed to working with property owners, NGOs and social enterprises to provide affordable and decent transitional social housing to deprived households currently living in indecent housing conditions. It aims to meet the temporary housing needs of the grassroots with no public housing support, and, above all, to enhance their individual capacity, and strengthen their community network. As such they are empowered to live independently in the market or move to the public rental housing when the tenancy expires.

After launching in 2017, the project has received positive feedback from different stakeholders in the community, especial property owners and NGOs. In more than a year time, around 600 people move-in to 220 social housing units. The Council is going to organize the captioned workshop for those who are interested. In the workshop, guests from property management sector and other professional sector will be sharing their thoughts and experiences in the three topics: 1. Tenancy agreement and enforcement in private rental housing and social housing sectors; 2. Construction and management of use space in social housing; 3. Tips on property repair and maintenance. It is expected that through the workshop, more and more social service organizations and social enterprises can participate into social housing service.

The workshop will be held on March 29 and we welcome all interested NGOs and SEs to attend:
