“Social Service Research” E-newsletter Issue 2 - “Social Work Research and Evidence Based Practice”

Social Development – Research      2015/08/28

Social service sector has been always taking part in and promoting service development, service innovation and policy advocacy, with the aims to serve service users with better service and to keep the society having sustainable development. Given scarce resources and infinite information, collaboration among practitioners and researchers in the sector on research works could promote service and social development in a more effective way. By publishing “Social Service Research E-newsletter”, it is hoped to create a platform for colleagues in the sector on social service research to share, learn and inspire.

The focus of this issue is an article named “Social Work Research and Evidence Based Practice”. It is written by Ms. Shirley Kong who is a social worker and now works as a post-doctoral researcher. In the article, the writer shares her views towards the relations among social work research and practice, as well as her analysis over effectiveness of promoting professional knowledge and service development promotion with the help of research. The issue also outlines research projects conducted by the sector; activities for promoting evidence based social practice and “Research Tips”. Readers may know more about development of research in social service sector with the newsletter.
