Election of Members of the Specialized Committees (2012-14)The Council's Annual General Meeting will be held on November 15, 2012.. The annual election of the new governance 2012-14 has commenced in July. As decided by the Executive Committee meeting on May 28, 2012, the election of the Executive Committee and the Standing Committees shall take place at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the election of the Specialized Committees shall be done by postal ballot during the month of August and September. The Executive Committee has also decided that election for members of the Specialized Committee on Rehabilitation Service will be jointly held with the election of the Management Committee of The Hong Kong Joint Council for People with Disabilities, at their AGM scheduled in November 2012. The closing date for the nomination of candidates to be elected into the 2012-14 Specialized Committees is August 13, 2012 (Wednesday). As at the date of this memo, the Council has registered 70 Life Members and 756 official representatives from 401 Agency Members, who are eligible to vote and to nominate candidates to stand for the elections. Agency Members have been invited to update their two Official Representatives and their participation in the Service Specialized Committees, in the earlier memo dated June 18, 2012. Those Agency Members that have not yet registered or want to change their Official Representatives can do so by submitting the names of their representatives to the Council in writing as soon as possible. The register of the Life Members and Official Representatives of Agency Members will serve as the basis for verifying any person's eligibility to be nominated, to make nomination or to vote in the election. The information on election of members of the Executive Committee and Standing Committees will be sent to Agency Members and Life Members right after the completion of the election of Specialized Committees.
